Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week: Carmelo Anthony and Brendan Haywood dribble through the obstacles of financing a car.

It’s that time of the week! We’re back with another Throwback Thursday clip of the week brought to you by Easterns Automotive Group (Eastern Motors). In this commercial clip, Carmelo Anthony and Brendan Haywood are shown showcasing their notorious basketball skills on behalf of Easterns. A cool fact is that Easterns Automotive Group managed to snag both players fairly early on in their career.
Carmelo Anthony was originally born in New York but moved and grew up as an adolescent in Baltimore and even attended Towson Catholic High School where he pursued his love for basketball. After high school, Anthony then went on to attend college and play for Syracuse University only to get drafted into the NBA by the Denver Nuggets. Anthony spent 2003-2011 with the Denver Nuggets until he got traded to the New York Knicks where he was from 2011-2017. He had a long yet great run with both teams but demanded a trade from the New York Knicks after having multiple conflicts with then-team president Phil Jackson. Anthony was then traded to Oklahoma City Thunder where he was for one year until just recently being traded to the Atlanta Hawks. After being there for only a few days, Anthony accepted a contract buyout from the Hawks and signed a deal with the Houston Rockets. NBA fans are excited for the skilled veteran to showcase his talent with a new team. We wish Anthony nothing but the best!
Brandan Haywood on the other hand did not grow up in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. Haywood was born in New York City but then moved to Greensboro, North Carolina where he attended James B. Dudley High School where he became known for his hooping talent. He then attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where his seven foot height, skill, and knowledge of the game of basketball caught the attention of NBA scouts. This played a vital role in his Haywood’s career getting him drafted into the NBA by the Washington Wizards. He had a solid nine year run with the Wizards before being traded to teams such as the Dallas Mavericks, Charlotte Bobcats, and Cleveland Cavaliers. After retiring from the NBA, Haywood is still managing to pursue his love of the sport by being a broadcaster for ESPN, NBA TV and CBS Sports.
Both of these players have tremendous history here in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia community so it only made sense for them to be a part of the Easterns movement.

Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week: Jason Campbell and Chief Zee talk Easterns

This week, we are bringing you a Throwback Thursday clip that is near and dear to not only our hearts but also to the residents of the DC, Maryland, and Virginia community.  Former Washington Redskins player, Jason Campbell is joined in this clip by the late Chief Zee.  Chief Zee was a well-known fan mascot of the Washington Redskins from the year 1978 all the way up until the year that he died in 2016.  What made Chief Zee so special was the fact that he was so dedicated to the Redskins.  He wore the controversial Native American war bonnet paired with a red jacket.

Jason Campbell is seen in the video chatting with Chief Zee about the large inventory at Eastern Motors.  In his mind, the inventory is so large that he just doesn’t know which car to choose.  Chief Zee reminds him that he will be good with whatever he chooses because you can’t go wrong when purchasing a car at Easterns.  Chief Zee then took his talents to the dance floor where he danced and sang along to the Easterns jingle.  This shoot was such a fun time!  Rest In Peace, Chief Zee. You will forever be a part of the Easterns family!

Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week: Reese Waters discusses his Eastern Motors commercial with ESPN Sports Center

We’re back with another Easterns Automotive Group (Eastern Motors) Throwback Thursday clip of the week.  Eastern Motors is known for filming commercials with professional athletes, comedians, artists, and actors.  In 2016, Maryland native and comedian Reese Waters was afforded the opportunity to star in his very own Eastern Motors commercial.  Waters had the chance to sit down with Joel Bassam (Director of Marketing for Easterns) to learn more about the company and its impact on the people of DC, Maryland, and Virginia.   Bassam gave him a tour of the Easterns corporate office and show room in Sterling, Virginia and Waters fell in love. He was one that grew up singing the Easterns jingle himself so this opportunity was a big deal for him.  The two discussed the possibility of shooting a commercial on the spot and got right to work.  The shoot was especially fun because Waters is a comedian so of course he brought the funny.

After the impromptu commercial shoot, Waters stopped by to visit Josh Norman of the Washington Redskins to get some critique on his Easterns commercial.  Norman laughed and joked with Waters and yelled, “You sucked!”  The two hit it off right away and began to chat it up.  Just a few weeks prior, Norman filmed his very own Easterns commercial spots along with his teammates Ryan Kerrigan and Josh Norman.

Waters sat down with ESPN Sports Center to break down the culture of the Eastern Motors commercials and why they are so important.  When Easterns first started doing commercials over 30 years ago, it was something done on a small scale for the community.  Now, Easterns commercials are world-renowned to the pint that people in other countries know and sing along to the jingle.

Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week: Antwaan Randle El helps a customer find her dream car

It’s been a few weeks but we’re back to bring you another Easterns Automotive Group (Eastern Motors) Throwback Thursday clip of the Week.  The past couple weeks have been rather busy yet fun filled.  The Washington Capitals won the 2018 NHL Stanley Cup so that was super exciting for everyone in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area (DMV).  The Capitals held a parade on the National Mall that broke records and had over 100,000 people in attendance.  We hope you all had an awesome 4th of July!  As a company, Easterns celebrated 4th of July in style by throwing a summer party for all of their employees and friends/family.  Please click here to see the pics in case you haven’t.

This week’s Throwback Thursday clip was filmed back in 2007 and features former Washington Redskins wide receiver, Antwaan Randle El.  At first glance, the poor video quality stands out because technology has improved so much since when this was taped 11 years ago. Randle El played the role of a car salesman that was assisting a female customer.  She knew what she wanted in a vehicle at first but her answer kept on changing.  Randle El kept following her lead by showing her that he can help her get into any car that she wants.  This fits right into Easterns’ main theme which happens to be quality customer service.  Easterns serves and provides vehicles to the hard working men and women of DC, Maryland, and Virginia regardless of their credit status.  Easterns has over 1,000 vehicles in stock at all times.  Please visit www.easterns.com

Alex Ovechkin Wants to Play Football with the Washington Redskins

Welcome back! We have a special Throwback Thursday Clip of the week for you guys. We must start out this blog by congratulating the Washington Capitals. Alex Ovechkin helped lead the Capitals to their first ever NHL Stanley Cup win last week against the Golden Knights. Ovechkin was also the winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy since he was voted most valuable player (MVP). The energy throughout the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area has been electrifying since the big win. The team celebrated a few days ago with Capitals’ Stanley Cup parade on Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C. where an estimated 100,000 fans attended.

In honor of the big win, we thought it would be only right to post an Ovechkin throwback clip with Easterns Automotive Group (Eastern Motors) for you guys to enjoy. In this clip from 2009, Ovechkin is cornered in by Chris Cooley and Antwaan Randle El in the locker room. Both Cooley and Randle El played for the Washington Redskins at the time. Ovechkin put a helmet on and told the guys that he too could play football. The guys put Ovechkin to the test but clearly he wasn’t fit for the NFL. Perhaps he’ll stick to hockey. Watch the clip below to see for yourself!

Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week: No Bow and Arrow for Josh Norman

Guess what day it is? Thursday! This means that it is time for another Throwback Thursday Clip of the week presented by Easterns Automotive Group (Eastern Motors). In 2016, upon his arrival to the DMV area to play for the Washington Redskins, Josh Norman became a part of the Easterns All Star team with Ryan Kerrigan and Kirk Cousins. Norman has shot a variety of commercials since then but this clip is one that stuck out. During a 2016 Washington Redskins game against the Cleveland Browns, Norman pretended to shoot an imaginary bow and arrow in the air to celebrate his interception. He was flagged and fined $10,000 by the NFL because they felt that the gesture simulated violence. The discussion grew when former New Orleans Saints player, Brandin Cooks was thrown into the mix since he has been doing the gesture for years and has never been penalized. Norman felt that the NFL organization was singling him out and making an example out of him.

In the Throwback Thursday clip, Norman is shown attempting to do the same bow and arrow celebration but was stopped by someone yelling, “No!” It was a fun skit to remake because there was never any harm meant in the first place. Norman is not a violent person nor does he condone that type of behavior so for it was just strange for people to imply violence behind the celebratory gesture. In fact, Norman is one of the few players to start his very own foundation in DC “Starz24” to help support children in the local community. Click Here to find out more about Josh Norman’s Starz24 foundation.

Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week: First Ever Eastern Motors Commercial

Thursday is upon us! It’s only right that we bring you guys another Throwback Thursday Clip of the week presented by Easterns Automotive Group. In case you aren’t familiar, Easterns Automotive Group (Eastern Motors) is a premiere car dealership with 6 locations that has been serving hard working men and women of DC, Maryland, and Virginia for over 30 years now. We thought it would only be right to take you back and show you how Easterns got to where it is today. There would be no present without the past. The clip that was chosen is from 1993 and is the very first televised Eastern Motors commercial. The first noticeable thing in the video is the age of the cars that were shown throughout the commercial. It’s a testament to how much time has changed and how much cars have advanced from several years ago. The video quality in the commercial is not the HD quality that we are used today; in fact, it is quite blurry. Technology in 1993 of course was far less advanced than it is in 2018. However, it makes for great content because it brings back a feeling of nostalgia. Clips like this take you back in your mind and make you reminisce about what you were doing or where you were in life during that particular time period. People are now able to see the evolution of Easterns starting with the very first commercial and compare it to the more recent ones. Even though the two are night and day, there is one thing that stayed the same. “Eastern Motors, your job is your credit!” The slogan was the same in 1993 as it is in 2018. It’s clear that Easterns owner and CEO Robert Bassam started Easterns with vision that he has been able to successfully execute throughout the years. Easterns has always been a car dealership that has been for the people and it’s clear that won’t be changing any time soon.

Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week – Bradley Beal singing the Easterns jingle

It’s Thursday! This means it’s time for another Throwback Thursday Clip of the week presented by Easterns Automotive Group. Easterns is the premiere car dealer with 6 stores located conveniently throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia. For this throwback clip, Easterns recruited NBA star Bradley Beal who is shooting guard for the Washington Wizards. Beal was widely accepted by residents of the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) area when he was drafted by the Wizards. The respect and love began to grow through Beal’s work ethic and skill on the basketball court. With his track record and proven success, it only made sense for Easterns to bring him on board to make an Easterns jingle commercial back in 2014. These jingle commercials give fans and consumers a chance to a chance to see some of their favorite celebrities and professional athletes in a different setting than they are used to. Beal was able to step out of his comfort zone and get into character and have some fun. He really made it his own with the hand gestures and silly movements. That’s what it is all about! We want to congratulate Beal for just playing in and winning his very first NBA All Star Game. He was on Team Lebron which beat Team Curry 148-145. Kudos to you, sir!

Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week: Ryan Kerrigan for Eastern Motors

Easterns fans! Redskins fans! We are back with another Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week. This week, we have a clip from 2016 starring Redskins linebacker and number 91, Ryan Kerrigan. He shot this particular clip as well as a series of others both individually and with the help of his teammates Kirk Cousins and Josh Norman. The overall goal of this clip was for Kerrigan to explain to fans and viewers what hard work means to him pertaining to his football career. With Kerrigan having to endure so much throughout his career, he definitely understands the importance of sacrifice, consistency, and work ethic. This partnership with Kerrigan made sense because Easterns sells cars to the hard working men and women of the DC, Maryland, and Virginia community. These are the folks that can definitely relate to working hard and fighting to achieve what they want! Easterns has 6 stores located conveniently throughout the DMV area – with a brand new location in Alexandria, Virginia (611 S Pickett St). Please feel free to stop by and visit!

Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week: Josh Norman for Easterns

It’s that time of the week! We are back with another Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week presented by Easterns Automotive Group. This week, we have chosen to highlight none other than the cornerback for the Washington Redskins, Josh Norman. Easterns recruited Norman for commercials shortly after he signed his $75 million dollar deal with the Redskins. A deal that made him the highest paid cornerback in NFL history at the time. In this clip, Norman discusses the importance of believing yourself and working hard to overcome any fear or doubt. This is something that anyone can relate to despite their gender, race, or financial status. Norman’s teammates Kirk Cousins and Ryan Kerrigan also shot commercials both individually and together during this time. These three together make up what is known as the Easterns All Star Team.

Norman was a great addition to the Easterns family because of core values and what he represents both on and off the field. He understands the importance of hard work, dedication and being a part of the community. His reliability caused the DC, Maryland, and Virginia community to receive him with open arms. Easterns sells cars to the hard working men and women in the DMV area.

Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week: Alfred Morris Hard Work Commercial

It’s time for our Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week from Easterns. This week, we have none other than former Washington Redskins player, Alfred Morris. The particular commercial being referred to was shot back in 2013 when Morris was a running back for the Redskins. Easterns recruited him during his very early days of being a Redskins player. They believed that he would be a great fit due to not only his skills on the football field but also what he represents as a person of the community. In this clip, Morris is shown working out and training for an upcoming Redskins game. Viewers are able to go behind the scenes of his training session and get a quick glimpse of the personal work ethic that it takes to be great in NFL football. The theme of hard work is universal because so many people can relate to working hard no matter what career field that they are in. Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week: Kirk Cousins for Easterns

We’re back again with another Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week from Easterns. This week, we have none other than quarterback for the Washington Redskins, Kirk Cousins. Easterns recruited Cousins to first star in their commercials back in 2016. During this same time, they also recruited Josh Norman, cornerback for Washington Redskins and Ryan Kerrigan, linebacker for the Washington Redskins. As a collective, the three players make up what is known as the Easterns All Star Team. They each starred in several commercials both individually and together as a group that are very popular amongst Redskins fans, Easterns fans, and people of the DC, Maryland, and Virginia community. In this clip, Cousins tosses a football around while discussing the importance of growth and hard work as it pertains to his career. He was able to connect the dots and let the audience know that he too faces obstacles but he refuses to give up. The overall theme of the clip sent a clear message to people in the community because they too know the struggles that life brings but believe in the idea of working hard for what you want. Easterns sells cars to the hard working men and women in the DMV area.

Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week: Gilbert Gottfried is angry!

We’re back with a brand new Throwback Thursday clip of the week. The star of this clip is American stand-up comedian, actor, and voice actor by the name of Gilbert Gottfried. Gottfried is most known for his sketches on Saturday Night Live (SNL) as well as his roles in several movies such as Problem Child 1 & 2, Aladdin, and Dr. Dolittle just to name a few. Gottfried took advantage of having a unique voice by doing voiceovers for cartoons, various television shows, and movies. Eastern Motors just knew that he would be a perfect fit to convey the message of their brand. Back in 2012, Easterns sought out Gottfried to star in this particular clip. Gottfried had an angry tone in the video due to him convincing people as to why they should buy from Easterns. He managed to point out nothing but facts when he spoke. It’s true, buying a 1 owner car from Easterns saves the customer 50% on average than buying a new car. Easterns Automotive Group has served the DC, Maryland, and Virginia communities for over 30 years now and has sold over 100,000 certified used vehicles. Easterns has every car that you can possibly imagine with 5 convenient locations in the DMV area with a 6th location coming in early 2018. Eastern Motors Commercial w/ Ray Lewis (Rips Tire Off A Vehicle)

It’s time for another Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week. In this week’s commercial, we have Baltimore’s very own Ray Lewis aka Inspector 52. Lewis played for the Baltimore Ravens as a linebacker for 17 years. He wasn’t born in Baltimore but the city still claims him as their own since he has done so much for football as well as the community. Easterns also has strong ties in Baltimore having a location in Rosedale, Maryland which is just outside of the city. It only made sense to bring Lewis on board and show the people of the DC, Maryland, and Virginia community that two strong forces can come together and create magic. Lewis starred in a series of commercials including this one being referred to as “Inspector 52”. The reason for this is because in each clip he is inspecting a certain part of a vehicle to show the vigorous inspection that vehicles from Easterns go through before they even make it to the lot.

Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week – Eastern Motors Commercial w/ Larry Michael (The Voice of the Washington Redskins)

It’s that time of the week again! It’s time for our Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week from Easterns Automotive Group. This commercial clip includes someone with a very special voice in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia community. Larry Michael, also known as “The Voice of the Washington Redskins” has one of the most distinct voices that you could ever hear. Since the Redskins hired him in 2005, Michael has been a household name to fans of the team throughout the area. The fact that he was a native of the area, growing up in Silver Spring, Maryland only made people love him more. As a broadcaster, Larry has always done a good job of carving out a lane for himself setting himself apart from the competition. Easterns has always had a great relationship with the Redskins organization as well as the players individually. Everyone thought that it would be a great idea for Easterns and Michael to team up to create magic. The voice of Larry Michael has credibility so by him discussing Easterns and what they bring to the automotive industry in the DMV area was brilliant. Typically Easterns commercials are funny and silly but this time Michael added a sense of seriousness to the brand to convey the message that Easterns is really a quality brand that is breaking barriers in the community. Watch the commercial clip below, Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week – Eastern Motors Jingle Commercial w/ Ray Lewis, LaVar Arrington, and Clinton Portis

This week we have a special Throwback Thursday Clip of the Week from Easterns. This clip is a jingle commercial that was shot back in 2007 starring Ray Lewis, LaVar Arrington, and Clinton Portis. This is single-handedly the most well known Easterns commercial to date having over one million combined views on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook. During the time that the commercial was filmed, both Arrington and Portis were playing for the Washington Ravens while Ray Lewis was playing for the Baltimore Ravens. These three coming together was a perfect way to unify the DC, Maryland, and Virginia community by highlighting players from both teams to come together to sing along, have fun, and represent a great brand. Easterns was one of the very first used car dealers both locally and nationally to have professional athletes in their commercials singing and dancing. These commercials because a part of people’s lives because it was one of the very few times that they were able to see some of their favorite athletes out of their normal serious and stern football characters. Many brands and companies have been influenced by marketing behind Easterns because they finally saw something that worked. We hope that you enjoy this clip! Feel free to sing along.
